Miss Sharmistha Banerjee is, a young teacher by profession, and while she was growing up in the Purulia district, till her early youth, she has seen the sufferings of the rank and file, as Purulia is one of the highly drought prone districts of our country. So, since her early youth, she nurtured a dream, that, one day she will dedicate herself for the cause of the have nots, not through the political activities but through humanitarian activities only -----be it the destitute ladies or the orphan children. It was during 2015, when she met Sourav Bhattacharjee, a fresh young graduate from North 24 Pargana, with the same zeal in his enormous solemn eyes and they joined hands and decided to dedicate themselves in the battle for mitigating the plights of the helpless ladies and children, languishing in the non-governmental homes, by providing them better foods for nutrition and clothes for bare minimum comforts. The journey of two youths started on 2015. A new group was formed under the title “Pather Dishari” in Facebook. Some more youths also joined the group immediately and based on the meagre contributions of their friends in the Face Book community, they started working. The focus was to collect both the cash & kinds and to distribute those to the helpless residents of the different destitute homes which are deprived of government aids or institutional supports. The selection of homes were limited to, in and around of South Bengal and these were followed by the intensive tracking of these homes, for their real conditions.

Post registration in 2017, they undertook a real challenge on April 2018, when the came to know about one Subrata Khetri, a meritorious M Phil student of Jadavpur University, who became critically ill, when both of his kidneys were badly damaged beyond repair and required immediate transplantation. As it required a colossal amount of money, and since his father was expired at his early days, leaving him & his mother in financial hardships, so it was impossible for Khetri to amass such a huge money. He appealed to the pillars to posts, but nobody stood for his cause. In such a critical time Pather Dishary stood by Khetri. Pather Dishary accepted the challenge. So, the battle started. The chain was extensive and prolonged. First came comprehensive investigations---then came donor selection---Next came starting of prolonged dialysis----obtaining clearance from West Bengal Health Department-----the ultimate was transplantation-----critical and equally important post-operative care. The struggle existed for nearly one and half year and finally Pather Dishary won the battle for Khetri, with flying colours. Many people, who were not the members of the group, also stood by them.

In the year 2019, following the nationwide commotion for the severely depleting ground water level and increasing temperatures of Indian districts, Pather Dishary felt the urgency of afforestation. They decided plantation will be their next priority and they will start it with the children of the homes and the available spaces in the homes and other places. Their motto to involve the children was because of, if the children are made conscious in their own terms then they will be serious in protecting and maintaining these trees much better than older. They started immediate implementation from July 2019. Each planted sapling bears the name of a child and that concerned child is entrusted to look after the plant. By this way they have already planted nearly 1000 plants till the end of 2019. Now they are expecting to plant at least 5000 saplings during the year 2020.
